Demon Cowboys, Amongst Other Things

The Strangeness of the Passion (3.2.08)

It was strange.

I called your name out loudand offered a wave in your direction

and you stopped.

Coming over in my direction

and pulled me intoyou,

smiling andsaying that you were so glad

to see me here tonight.

Holding on to a sweet

family that you can have here.

I look at you and I see

my Saviour.

To an Okie (3.3.08)

If there was something

about the moon,

if it was furor the claws as I looked around to find

the true presence of you--it shouldn't matter, but I guess it does

so I'll sink into the vastness of this

nothingness, of this emptiness.

I thinkI hold out my arms to you

in an attempt

to counteract what I lost all

too long ago. I feel so close to home when

I bury my head by your neck

and into your chest

to catch the essence of you.I am no vampire,

preparing to suck your life's

blood or spirit from you.

I only want to wear you as a blanket.

If Only I Dare To Dream About You (3.4.08)

staring into the deep blue eyes

that seem to echo

the sadness that you radiate from your flesh,I tend to cry and seek to find

some sort of sweet

comfort that I can offer you.

i feel as though i drown each time

i disappear into your arms, but breathing is no issue

as i feel the calm of death that fills me with such a peace as i brush

the feathers back and gaze into your face.

drawing closer to you as you enfold me in your soul, no vampire, no leech,

but just as though i found a place where i can

and do belong in that forever.

if i wet your shoulder, would you wear my tears with pride?

dropping one or two upon your tongue to let me linger on in

you forever as they meet with your blood

and cry my name each time they meet your heart.

a slight tear of your own snakes down your cheeck as they pass through.

clutching your chest with one hand

you take my chin in the other and look closely into my lowered eyes.

words of utter pride wash over me and love of

a fillial kind and I watch as a smile slowly

pulls the corners of your mouth heavenward.

i swear that's where you live and you

only come to visit when the Father says it's time to renew my faith in man.

light shines down and creates a tarnished halo over my elder brother

(you share the hair, the eyes, the love) making the music almost holy.

i told you i see a spiritual aspect in what comes

across and through my ears and should feel

the beauty of the thorns in these roses blooming

as you sing of your childhood back when you

eyed the camera with suspicion as it stared you down.
